Photos: Dorothy “Dot” Booker celebrates her 101st birthday
The PACE GNO Shirley Benson Landry Center staff and regular visitors threw Dorothy “Dot” Booker a 101st birthday party. The party consisted of lunch and caked, with a dance performance, followed by a music performance by Wendell Brunious. The event ended with a dance party.
Booker was born and raised in Uptown New Orleans in 1921. She married Robert Booker Jr. around 1941 and moved with him to California after he signed up to serve in the military. Her husband died in the 1990s.
Booker moved back to New Orleans around 2006 to be with her family.
